   We have around 10 weeks to get this done. Now we are preparing the preproduction. So basically in this phase we are going to find a story, develop it, dramatize it etc. The actual shooting is going to be done 9 weeks from now. It'll probably take about 3, 4 days to shoot. Editing should take the last week.

   i used to hate soya drink because it looks too much like milk. i don't like fresh milk..
   
   but one friday afternoon in 2003 i purchased a glass of soya drink in front of masjid ridzuaniah kuala kangsar and i got hooked. haha.. but i still don't drink fresh milk..

    The link between education and working life. Go around and ask those odd job workers (bus conductors, fishmongers, construction workers, pekerja majlis pembandaran, etc.) what it feels like to be doing the jobs they're doing, and if they long for a better life. Ask if given a chance, would they like to go back to their early life and get proper education, so they can end up having a more comfortable work. If they have any regrets. Ask them what's their plan for their children, are they gonna make sure that they're equipped with proper education. This is not meant to look down on those people, merely a way to see things through eyes. We ourselves have a lot to learn from them, that is the importance of education.
    
    Another topic that you might want to consider is immigrants working in our country. Questions like, what drives them to sacrifice everything in life to come to our country and work hard always bother me. Or how does in feel like to be away from families, close friends. What gives them the energy to wake up every single day in a foreign country, is it the sense of responsibility to their financially-deprived families back in their home country, the need to put kids in school?
    
    Or you can actually combine the two topics I put up here; what immigrants think about education, whether they have regrets that they didn't get the chance to get a proper one.
    
    I do realize that you're saying that social life is demanding, but if you want to get the best out of this assignment then I say go for social life, talk to people. You'll get experience you can never get anywhere else.

    Thanks. That does sound challenging but I really think it would be worth doing it. I'll keep that in my shortlist.
    
    One of the things that is already on the group's shortlist is on Melaka and its recent acceptance as a world heritage site. We thought that it would be great if we can interview people on what they think about it and later, how does this affect their daily lives since a world heritage site must be left untouch except for restoration. Maybe we could get the normal people's opinion, tourist's opinion, people who actually own one of these shops' opinion and the local council's opinion.
    
    The thing is, this documentary is supposed to be observational using either direct cinema or cinema verité mode. Jargon gibberish, I know. It basically means that we have to go out and observe the thing personally and we must tell our story without narration. So, yeah.. it must be about people. It's hard to get cats, dogs and penguins to talk these days.
    
    Still, I wanted to ask people for their opinion la. There are many bright people out there and it's great to see what you guys think.

    That would be a great observational documentary. Perhaps it can be tighten up more so that it's easier to present since I mentioned up there that we can't do narration on this project.
    
    Still, I'll keep that in my list. Maybe in this few days I can't think of something that can relate to it, that'll be nice.
